Mushroom Powder Proprietary Blend

Organic Agaricus Mushroom (Agaricus blazei): Agaricus blazei: this anti-inflammatory medicinal mushroom nourishes and protects the immune system, digestive system, pancreas and liver.

Organic Chaga Mushroom (Inonotus obliquus)

Organic Cordyceps Mushroom (Cordyceps militaris)

Organic King Trumpet Mushroom: King Trumpet: this noble representative of the Pleurotus group of medicinal mushrooms is renowned for nourishing the immune system and neutralizing toxic forms of cholesterol.

Organic Antrodia Camphorate Mushroom (Antrodia cinnamomea is a fungal species that causes brown heart rot of the aromatic tree Cinnamomum kanehirae.)

Organic Maitake Mushroom (Grifola frondosa): Maitake: This medicinal mushroom is an adaptogen that helps the body adapt to all forms of stress (physical, mental, emotional) and is often recommended to nourish the immune system.

Organic Reishi Mushroom, (Ganoderma lucid): Reishi: the queen of the medicinal mushrooms. This super adaptogen nourishes white blood cells providing them more tools to get their job done. Reishi is highly regarded for improving beauty, charisma and glow.

Organic Shiitake Mushroom (Lentinula edodes): Shiitake: This mushroom has been used since China's Ming Dynasty for many purposes. Among them is to nourish the immune system, help with digestion, aid circulation and help reduce inflammation.

Organic Turkey Tail Mushroom (Coriolus versicolor): The most common woodland wood mushroom gives rise to polysaccharide K, a well-researched cancer-fighter and a friend of the immune system.

More Key Benefits of this Mushroom Blend

Chaga and Reishi Mushrooms

Experts refer to these two mushrooms as "the king and queen" respectively.

Chaga mushrooms are rich in several nutrients, including (1):

  • B-complex vitamins
  • Vitamin D
  • Potassium
  • Rubidium
  • Cesium
  • Fiber
  • Zinc
  • Iron
  • Manganese
  • Magnesium
  • Calcium

These nutrients prevent oxidative damage (which is responsible for aging), lower cholesterol, reduce blood pressure, and support the immune system.

Reishi mushrooms contain several molecules, such as triterpenoids, polysaccharides and peptidoglycans that provide tremendous health benefits. (2)

These include:

  • Increased immune function
  • Potential relief from fatigue and depression symptoms
  • Improved heart health
  • Blood sugar control

Lion's Mane Mushroom

Lion's mane mushroom contains two compounds, hericenoes and erinacines, that stimulate brain growth. (3)

Animal studies showed that these compounds reduce memory loss symptoms and neural damage. Lion's mane mushroom and its extracts also counteract amyloid-beta plaques that build up in Alzheimer's patients' brains. (4)

Other lion's mane mushroom benefits include:

  • Potential relief from mild depression and anxiety symptoms
  • Reduced heart disease risk

Turkey Tail Mushroom

Turkey tail mushroom is a powerful immune-modulating fungi that has been used around the world for centuries as medicine.

For one, turkey tail mushroom is packed with antioxidants. These compounds combat oxidative stress damage, which is often associated with aging. (5)

Turkey tail mushroom also contains polysaccharopeptides (especially Polysaccharide K), which activate immune cells.

Cordyceps Militaris

Cordyceps mushroom contains adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which delivers energy to your muscles. (6)

As a result, cordyceps increases exercise performance.

Cordyceps also possesses antioxidant capabilities, which reduces the effects of aging.

Other cordyceps mushroom benefits include:

  • Potential type 2 diabetes management
  • Possible cardiovascular health benefits

Agaricus Blazei

Agaricus blazei benefits (7) include:

  • Immune system activation
  • Weight loss
  • Potential diabetes treatment
  • Toxic metal cleansing

Medicinal Mushroom Mycelium (this product is Mycelium)

versus

Mushroom Fruiting Bodies (such as our Wild Medicinal Mushroom Tinctures: North American Reishi Tincture, Tartarian Blend Tincture)

versus

Herniated Mycelium (such as Wild Chaga Tincture)

“For the maximum coverage of Medicinal Mushroom activity, I prefer taking a wide range of Medicinal Mushroom products: some are mycelium and some are wild fruit bodies and some are wild herniated mycelium such as Chaga. Whether it is powder, tincture, capsule or tea each form carries with it a piece of the overall complete immunological picture.” — David Avocado Wolfe

Mycelium: Properties and Activities

1. Asexual, enduring stage of the mushroom life cycle must survive in highly competitive environments, protect itself against pathogens and competitors, and produce enzymes to digest organic substrates to assimilate sufficient nutrient and energy reserves to produce the fruiting body stage when environmental conditions are right.

2. In Solid State Fermentation systems, mycelium can be grown on organic substrates with a high degree of control and hygiene to produce very consistent batches of product. Environmental toxins and insect activity are more easily excluded/filtered.

3. Mycelial biomass grown in bioreactor units with air exchange filters in indoor, controlled and filtered indoor farms can be produced with very low levels of microbial contamination and do not require high temperature microbial reduction processing steps.

4. The cell walls of the mycelium do not have to be thick and strong to support the above ground weight of the mushroom stem and cap. Mycelial cell walls must be porous to allow the flow of enzymes and protective metabolites into the environment and the flow of enzymatically-digested nutrients into the mycelial cells. Thus, mycelial tissue is easier to digest and assimilate than fruiting body tissue.

5. Mycelium of some species control some compounds not contained in the fruiting body. Example: nootropic erinacine compounds produced only in mycelium of Lion’s Mane mushroom.

6. Mycelial biomass products produced by Solid State Fermentation processes (such as this Organic Mushroom Blend) contain extra-cellular compounds including enzymes, polysaccharides, and protective secondary metabolites that provide therapeutic benefits when consumed.

Wild Fruiting Bodies: Properties and Activities

1. Sexual, reproduction function only—must produce and disseminate spores to ensure survival of the species. Lacks much in the way of enzymatic or immune systems—generally survives only a few weeks after spore release.

2. Fruiting bodies can vary significantly in quality and consistency as per many variables including season, environmental conditions, harvest “flush” maturity and also post-harvest handling, storage and transport. Subject to environmental toxins, snail, slug and insect activity so must come from pure environments and remain unmolested.

3. The moist and exposed surfaces of the mushroom fruit bodies harbor high levels of microbial contamination that require high temperature microbial kill steps (i.e. hot water), an extraction process and/or alcohol extraction to reduce contamination levels to specifications suitable for nutraceutical applications.

4. The cell walls of fruiting body tissue must be thick and strong to support the above-ground weight of the mushroom stem and cap. Fruiting body tissue is thus harder to digest and assimilate than mycelial tissue. With our wild fruiting body tinctures and with wild Chaga, we expose as much surface area as possible to the alcohol and water for maximum nutrient extraction.

5. Fruiting bodies contain higher levels of some active ingredients as compared to mycelium. Example: the fruiting bodies of Reishi contain higher levels of triterpene compounds than the mycelium.

6. Fruiting body products do not contain the powerful extra-cellular compounds produced by mycelium or herniated wild mycelium (such as Chaga).
